What is processor? - Definition from rintutorial.blogspot.com
.
2. The Processor is a silicon chip that
contains millions of transistors and other components fabricated into a
integrated circuitry.. Because of the large amount of circuitry packed into
such a tiny area, microchips produce a lot of heat and they require cooling
systems to keep the chip from overheating. On computer motherboards the CPU
chip is covered by a large metal heat sink with “fins” to allow airflow from cooling fans
to carry the heat away.
3. Each motherboard will support only a
specific type or range of CPU so you must check the motherboard manufacturer's
specifications before attempting to replace or upgrade a CPU.
4. A modern CPU is usually small and
square with many short, rounded, metallic connectors on its lower side called
“Pin less” processors. Some older CPUs have pins instead metallic connectors.
The CPU attaches directly to a CPU "socket" (or sometimes a
"slot") on the motherboard. The CPU is inserted into the socket and a
small lever helps to secure the processor. The CPU chip is covered by a large metal heat sink
with “fins” to allow airflow from cooling fans to carry the heat away.
